ST Dupont Blanc Fragrance Review

Can't get enough of the delicious scent of freshly-shampooed hair? Perfumer Francoise Caron (known for her fragrances for Acqua di Parma, Comme des Garcons and Hermes amongst many others) has captured that sparkling clean fruity floral bouquet in a bottle. ST Dupont Blanc is a perfumed portrait of femininity, with its focus trained to lip-smacking fruits and enchanting white flowers.

Blanc – as the name might suggest – is a study in alabaster blooms... white rose, tuberose, neroli and lily of the valley unfurl over a delectable assortment of dewy fruit accords: white currant, tangerine, nectarine and green apple. A whisper of white amber and white musk add a feeling of milky warmth to the heart of the perfume. All of these blanched, ivory accords are rooted firmly to a powdery base of heliotrope and cashmeran (a fragrant blonde wood). Packaged in a pristine diamond-cut milky glass flacon, Blanc is a pleasure to not only smell, but to hold. The perfect casual perfume for weekends or daytime, ST Dupont Blanc is an overture to love; in white.

Creed Aventus Fragrance Review

There is something about Creed's creation of 2010 Aventus that makes it sell hand-over-fist to men and women alike. Guys want to smell of it, and women want to be with a man who wears it! Perhaps part of it's appeal lies with it's inspiration... that is, the powerful and romantic life of Emperor Napoleon. Aventus is a scent that unashamedly celebrates assertiveness strength and success.

This commanding masculine fragrance has a bright flight of pineapple, bergamot and crisp apple; a sense of the ushering in of a new day. As it evolves, notes of patchouli, fragrant woods and blackcurrant emerge, which lend a certain complexity. A subtle floral element of rose and jasmine brings with it a feeling of softness; but just as one might begin to imagine something too fruity and flowery, the satisfying base notes of musk, vanilla, oakmoss and ambergris pull it back down to earth again. The sum of its parts feels bright, optimistic and invigorating. Napoleon was not called The Conqueror for nothing... Aventus is ideal for both the boardroom or on date night... basically anywhere a guy might hope to triumph!

Narciso Rodriguez Narciso

American designer Narciso Rodriguez wowed the world with his 2003 feminine "Narciso Rodriguez For Her" and in 2014, leaped back into the spotlight with his new scent, simply named Narciso.

Packaged in modest nude and white hues, Narciso's flacon is a weighty square of glass that feels wonderful in the hand. The inside of the receptacle is painted a milky white... something suggestive of the perfume inside. Opening with a cashmere soft mantle of gardenia and white rose Narciso is devoutly feminine in its approach. These floral notes are underpinned by a sensual amber facet which lends a creamy/milkiness to the composition.

At its heart lies the same exceptional Egyptian musk that made “For Her” a hit... Narciso borrows this from it's older sibling, whose DNA can be clearly recognised here. This being said, Narciso feels contemporary and individual. A delicate sigh of vetiver and blanched woods in the base gives the support required to hold these notes aloft.

Narciso commands attention in all the right ways... a nude figure reclining suggestively beneath crisp white sheets. Glorious!
