True Religion was founded by Jeffrey Lubell in 2002. You may know this California-headquartered brand best for its denim clothing. True Religion prides itself on offering trendsetting, denim clothes made in America for people of every age. Over the years, True Religion has become known for denim clothing that is exception in fit, unique in style and durable. As the company's market expanded worldwide, it has become a world leader in denim and sportswear, selling clothing for men, women and children. In 2008, True Religion released its first of five fragrances. The first fragrance was for women, called True Religion, and is a fragrance designed to be worn day or night. This was followed in 2009 by True Religion for Men, which is considered a timeless classic. In 2011, two new fragrances were introduced: Drifter, a spicy, woodsy scent for men, and Hippie Chic, a fun and playful scent for women. A fifth fragrance was added in 2012 for women called Love Hope Denim, which is an Oriental vanilla fragrance. The fragrances that True Religion offers were made with help from perfumers Ellen Molner, Yann Vasnier and Rodrigo Flores-Roux. The company went public in 2003. True Religion was operating 31 international stores and 124 stores in the United States by March 21, 2013. In May 2013, the company developed a merger agreement with TowerBrook Capital Partners.
