Playboy (Designer)

In December 1953, Hugh Hefner published the first issue of Playboy magazine, a monthly men’s periodical featuring articles, fiction, and—-most importantly—-photographs of beautiful nude women. From that inaugural issue (featuring photos of Marilyn Monroe) through a half-century of promoting the “Playboy philosophy” of complete personal freedom, Hefner transformed the way people think and talk about sex.
Hefner later expanded his empire into Playboy nightclubs, the legendary Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles, websites and videos, an apparel line, and other consumer goods. Playboy launched men’s fragrances in 2008, followed by fragrances for women two years later. Under license to Coty, this collection has continued to grow. Many of the masculine fragrances are named for cities with Playboy Clubs, from Hollywood, Miami, and Vegas to Ibiza, New York, and Berlin. The women’s line includes fruity-floral scents like Play it Sexy, Play It Spicy, and Play it Rock. Fragrances available in versions for both men and women include Playboy VIP, Super Playboy, and #Generation. All the fragrances have bottles and labels that feature the brand’s signature bow-tied bunny-head as a reminder of the Playboy lifestyle.
