4711 is a crisp, subtle, cologne, that can be worn every day and in all circumstances. It is refreshing when applied and gives a great start to your day. It can easily reapplied during the day. It does not overwhelm, as some colognes are prone to do. In that regard, it can easily be worn for work or other enclosed spaces, like theaters and restaurants, where a stronger aroma can bother others. I find it is the closest to what a pure fragrance should be: it does not try to smell of something else, leather, cirus or otherwise.

4711 was created during the time of Napolean - talk about staying power! It is a light cologne with a very fresh mix of citrus and just a bit of pine that I love on my husband - it is all he wears - but I even wear it myself sometimes and would classify it as unisex. When I say it lasts all day, I mean that it lasts on his skin, not in the air around him, but that's where I think it should be!

I've been using 4711 Cologne for over fifty years, and it wouldn't occur to me to change. The fragrance is light, and the astringency is just right for my skin. I reccomend it for anyone who wants an after-shave that doesn't attract attention to itself.

I have long enjoyed the fragrance of 4711. I use it as an aftershave. It is bracing and has a clean, outdoorsy scent. it also may be used in the bath. Good stuff, try it and see for yourself.
