Over a successful movie career that has spanned several decades and continents, Spanish-born actor Antonio Banderas has become an international symbol of romantic charm and sexy good looks. In the 1980s he worked frequently with director Pedro Almodóvar in films like Matador and Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown. He then crossed over into English-language movies, gaining a role in The Mambo Kings in 1992. Throughout the 1990s he starred in major motion pictures including Philadelphia (with Tom Hanks), Interview with the Vampire (with Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt) and Evita (with Madonna). More recently, he has voiced characters in the animated hit Shrek and its sequels. Banderas was married to fellow movie star Melanie Griffith for eighteen years.
