New York, 1962: French pianist Gérard Courtin meets American luxury leather goods maker James Kaplan, established on Fifth Avenue. Both are passionate about Art and the MoMA in New York City. Together, they create the brand JACOMO: JA for James, Co for Courtin, and Mo for MoMA. Counted among the House’s most distinguished clientele were such iconic figures as Elizabeth Taylor and Betty Ford. Paris, 1965: Gérard Courtin returns to France. Captivated by the world of fragrance, he develops partnerships with perfumers in Grasse, capable of translating his ideas into olfactory compositions. He later opens his own creative studio, which he establishes on Avenue George V in Paris. In 1970, the brand officially becomes Jacomo Paris and achieves its first international success with the men’s Eau de Toilette Eau Cendrée. The fragrance and its design are directly inspired by the exciting and vibrant New York of the 1960s. Drawing on its heritage and bold aesthetic, Jacomo has won over an international clientele with distinctive and sophisticated olfactory creations. A symbol of a glamorous and avant-garde era, the House has left its mark on the history of perfumery by creating unique and timeless fragrances. For over 40 years, the perfumes have been crafted within the Jacomo Productions atelier located in the heart of Deauville, a symbol of elegance and refinement — a place entirely dedicated to the creation of exceptional fragrances. Since 2024, Jacomo Paris has returned to the forefront with new creations. The House continues to uphold the same core values it has embraced since its founding: Singularity, Creativity, Authenticity.
