Born in Turin, Italy in 1883, Nina Ricci started as an apprentice dressmaker at 14, in Paris. She founded her company in 1932 at the age of 49. At age 18, she was designing and selling her creations to other fashion houses. When she retired in 1950, her son Robert took over the business. He expanded the company's line adding fragrances and licensing the name Nina Ricci to other manufacturers.
Known throughout the world for its prestige brands of clothing and fragrance, Nina Ricci has recently unveiled its own luxurious lingerie collection. The design house also offers accessories and skin care. Founder Nina Ricci died in 1970. Her son Robert passed away in 1988. Nina Ricci was purchased by the Puig Beauty & Fashion Group of Barcelona, Spain in 1998.
Nina Ricci women's fragrances include Farouche, Deci Dela - "the fragrance of five senses," and Nina Ricci's l'Air du Temps, a postwar creation dating from 1949, and still one of the world's best-selling perfumes. Premier Jour and Love In Paris perfumes are also licensed under the Nina Ricci name. In 1989, the company rolled out Ricci Club men's cologne. Other men's fragrances include Memoir De Homme, launched in 2004, and Signoricci cologne.
