Designer History

Karl Lagerfeld was born in Hamburg, Germany in 1933. After moving to Paris in 1953, he won a coat competition sponsored by the International Wool Secretariat in 1955. He has collaborated with a variety of different fashion labels, including Chloé, Fendi and Chanel. Lagerfeld also has his own labels, which he launched in the early 1980s, including perfume and clothing.

In addition to designing apparel, accessories and fragrance, Karl is also an accomplished photographer, shooting all the fashion advertisements for both Chanel and for his House of Lagerfeld. He has held gallery photo shows in Paris.

Perfume History

The mens fragrance collection includes Lagerfeld Cologne, launched in 1978, Kl Cologne, introduced in 1986, Photo Cologne in 1990, and Jako Cologne in 1997. His womens fragrances include Kl Perfume, launched in 1982, as well as Sun Moon Stars Perfume, and Lagerfeld Perfume, Introduced in 2000.
