History

Jennifer Lopez was born on July 24, 1970, in the Bronx, New York. As a child, Lopez took singing and dancing lessons and attended 12 years of Catholic school, including an all-girl high school.

After high school, she continued dance classes at night and was cast on the popular sketch comedy series "In Living Color" in 1990. Her career took off from her "Living Color" stint and with her portrayal of slain Latino singing sensation, Selena in 1997. Lopez went on to great commercial success as both a singer and an actress. A few of her most popular film roles were in hits like “The Wedding Planner,” “Enough,” and “Maid in Manhattan.” Her hit singles include “If You Had My Love” and “Waiting for Tonight” off her debut album, On The 6 and “Play” and “Love Don’t Cost a Thing” off the J.Lo album.

Her personal life has also been of great interest to the media and general public. Her first husband was the Cuban born waiter Ojani Noa but the couple divorced after just a year of marriage in 1998. She then dated producer and hip hop star, Sean Combs. Her second marriage was to her former backup dancer, Cris Judd, whom she met while filming the music video for her single "Love Don't Cost a Thing." They were married on September 29, 2001 and their marriage ended less than a year later in August 2002.

Lopez also dated actor Ben Affleck, earning the media nickname, “Bennifer.” The two began dating in 2002 and were engaged by November of the same year. The marriage, planned for September 14, 2003 was called off just hours before the event.

She began seeing her longtime friend, pop singer Marc Anthony, in 2003 and the two were married on June 5, 2004.
