Dr. Hauschka Skincare

Dr. Hauschka is a holistic skin care company that emphasizes quality, fragrance and natural ingredients used to promote the health of customers. In the early 1900s, Dr. Rudolf Hauschka attended a lecture by the spiritual science educator, Dr. Rudolf Steiner, in Germany. Hauschka became inspired to observe nature's life and energy, examining how they affected the rhythm of living things. Hauschka eventually used his new wisdom to discover a water-based rose extract that maintains its stability for nearly three decades.

He and his colleagues founded the natural pharmaceutical company WALA Heilmittel in 1935. WALA was an acronym for "warmth, ash, light and ash," Hauschka's unique processing method. When esthetician Elisabeth Sigmund discovered the healing powers of herbs on the skin in the early 1960s, she shared her discoveries with Hauschka, and they began working together on holistic skin care products in 1965. The product line Dr. Hauschka Skin Care was launched in 1967.

This line arrived in the United States in 1972, and finding success, the company brought Dr. Hauschka Holistic Home Remedies to the country in 2008.

The company later released Bath Essences, a series of soothing products that utilize aromatherapy. Dr. Hauschka began working with perfumer Jšrg Zimmermann to create a series of four fragrance families used in the company's bath and skin care products. These include lavender, lemon lemongrass, rose and almond.
