Dunhill Icon Elite
product description
Dunhill ICON Elite plays with sensual and emotional contrasts. The soul of the fragrance is constructed around a core accord of bigarade, vetiver and sandalwood. This is the signature of the fragrance. The robust spice accord of cardamom and black pepper plays with the fragrance, adding more depth and force. At the heart blue sage and juniper affirm elegance and a daring combination of ebony wood in contrast to a white suede conveys a modern craftsmanship and quality of materials.

This is a perfect masculine fragrance for work or even the gym... not too punchy or intrusive, yet noticeable enough to leave in impression. The scent description is spot on, with bitter citrus, vetiver, sandalwood, and a hint of sage (and cardamom) all balancing each other equally. I find it to be such an interesting fragrance because one might initially think it's rather simple, where in reality (IMO) it's quite complex but incredibly well-balanced and consistent... perhaps it is that consistency and lack of evolution throughout the day that leads to that simple impression. What begins as a strong hit of the scent upon applying fades to a nice background that lasts all day. I also feel the need to comment on the atomizer and bottle: the bottle is cool and feels expensive, and the atomizer is one of the best of any cologne/perfume I've tried. Great scent at an incredible price.

When it comes to fragrances, I usually prefer that they lean either warm or spicy or both. Though Icon Elite fits that bill I couldn't help but to find it to be quite boring. A fragrance can be elegant but at the same time have some kind of flair to make it stand out and not seem so ordinary. Unfortunately this scent defines ordinary. It closes on the dry down the same as it opens. Wood and spice from beginning to end.

Smells good, just a little stronger than Icon.
