Jeanine Lobell, a talented makeup artist, established Stila Cosmetics in 1994. The name Stila is derived from an Italian word that means originality. The company encourages each woman to create her own individual, signature style that allows her to make every day a new beginning by putting her best face forward.
Jeanine was born in Sweden and educated in London. After school, she moved to Los Angeles where she began doing makeup for music videos. Lobell's popularity and reputation grew as clients repeatedly requested her work. She started doing makeup for magazine covers and award shows, and after working in product development in a small boutique, Lobell officially launched the Stila brand. Featuring high-quality, colorful and eco-friendly packaging, the brand's formulas were designed to meet more than one need, such as the smudge pots that double as an eye shadow or an eye liner.
Her line also includes fragrances that are not only unique, but that come in bottles decorated by hand with the dried flowers of its respective notes.
In 1999, Stila was sold to Estee Lauder, where Lobell served as the brand's president. It was then sold to Sun Capital Partners in 2006, and again to Patriarch Partners LLC.
As of 2014, Lobell lives and works on the East Coast, and continues doing makeup during Fashion Week in New York, as well for magazines such as Harper's Bazaar, Allure and Elle.
