Trussardi is a fourth-generation family business that is as renowned for its luxury accessories as it is for its logo, the Trussardi Greyhound. Founded in 1911 as a glove factory by Dante Trussardi, the company quickly became known for its quality and was soon used as the glove maker for the royal family in Great Britain.
However, it was under the leadership of the founder's grandson, Nicola who took the reins of the company in 1965 that the business truly expanded. Adhering to the rigors of Italian craftsmanship, Trussardi became synonymous with luxury lifestyle accoutrements as the business grew to included leather items such as luggage, business accessories and clothing,. It began exporting many of its products throughout other regions of Europe, as well as the United States.
Trussardi ventured into the world of fragrances in 1983 with Trussardi Uomo for men and Trussardi for women in 1984. Other fragrances followed, and Trussardi secured the label Made in Italy for itself and other fine companies whose adherence to luxurious products matched that of its own. In the 1990s, Trussardi expanded into the Asian markets with great success.
In 1999, Nicola Trussardi died in an auto accident, and another member of the family, Beatrice Trussardi, took over the company. Under her direction, the fragrance collection expanded and includes the well-known Trussardi 1911. As of August 2014, the latest addition to the Trussardi line is Trussardi A Way for Her. The house boasts 29 fragrances.
