Actress and television personality Sofia Vergara was born in Colombia, South America. After getting her start as model and acting in commercials for the Latin American market, she became a Univision show host and later appeared at the 1995 American Comedy Awards. In 1999, Vergara received the Hispanic Woman of the Year award.
Her breakout film role came in 2002 when she starred in "Big Trouble" with Tim Allen and Rene Russo. After performing in two Tyler Perry films — "Meet the Browns" and "Madea Goes to Jail" — Vergara did a stint on Broadway in the musical "Chicago." In 2009, Vergara was cast in the acclaimed ABC comedy series "Modern Family," where she earned four Emmy nominations and four Golden Globe nominations for her role as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett. Vergara continued to land comedy film roles including "Happy Feet Two" and "The Smurfs."
Vergara partnered with Kmart to launch her own clothing line in 2011, and her fragrance and jewelry collections debuted in 2014. Her first fragrance, Sofia, was created by perfumer Bruno Jovanovic and developed in collaboration with Parlux. The actress followed up with a second scent, Love, a variant of Sofia created by Yves Cassar and Pascal Gaurin. Vergara said that Love was a tribute to her Colombian heritage, including notes of the Colombian coffee flower, and it was released in conjunction with her wedding to the actor Joe Manganiello in 2015.
