Rapper Nelly — born Cornell Iral Haynes, Jr. — founded Apple Bottoms in 2004. It initially focused on women's clothing, but released a signature fragrance in 2009 called Apple Bottoms while working with Romane Fragrances.
Apple Bottoms remains the sole scent from the design house. The designer describes it as a heady scent composed of citrus, pink peony, rose, coconut and sandalwood. It also contains golden amber, velvet musk and apple blossoms. Apple Bottoms comes in 50- and 100-milliliter sizes as an eau de parfum and as a scented body lotion and shower gel.
“My inspiration [for the perfume] was light, citrusy and sensual scents. I wanted to make sure it wasn’t overpowering, but instead something a woman could wear everyday,” Nelly said in a 2010 interview with Rolling Out.
Nelly also has a men's clothing line, Vokal, established in 2001. However, it hasn't released a fragrance for men. Currently, Dr. Jay's administers both of Nelly's lines.
Nelly was born in the country music city of Austin, Texas, on Nov. 2, 1974. His mother relocated the family to Missouri, where he began his career in a hip-hop group. In 2000, his first solo musical release, "Country Grammar," spawned his first hit of the same name. The rapper has amassed four Billboard Top 10 albums, won two Grammy Awards and dabbled in acting, appearing on the television show "CSI: NY" and in the motion picture "The Longest Yard." Nelly founded the 4Sho4Kids Foundation, a charity focused on children's health issues.
