Katy Perry (born Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson) grew up in Santa Barbara, California, in a religiously conservative family that was surprised by her early interest in music and performing. After some early efforts to release a country-music album in Nashville, Perry moved to Los Angeles with a goal of becoming the next big female pop star. She landed a record deal in 2007 and had her first big hit with the single “I Kissed a Girl” in 2008. Her follow-up album, Teenage Dream, was even more popular and generated the hits “California Gurls” and “Firework.” Since then, Perry has racked up additional pop hits, from “Hot N Cold” to “This is How We Do,” and even performed the Super Bowl halftime show in 2015. In addition to her catchy tunes and upbeat personality, she is known for her colorful costumes and cartoon-y, larger-than-life stage props.
Perry released her first fragrance, Purr, through a licensing agreement with Gigantic Perfumes in 2010. Purr was followed by Meow!, and both scents were packaged in cat-shaped bottles. Moving to Coty in 2012, Perry’s fragrance collection expanded to include Killer Queen and Royal Rebellion, offered in jewel-like bottles with crown-shaped caps. Just like her hit songs, they’re sure to be followed by new releases sometime soon.
