The company was known as Bernini of Beverly Hills and became popular in the 1980s. Bernini catered to high-end clientele and offered custom-made Italian suits and luxury ready-to-wear clothing from designers such as Zanella. Between 1985 and 1992, it established three separate locations on Rodeo Drive: Bernini, Bernini Sport and Bernini Couture. These shops were frequented by many celebrities, including Michael Jordan and Sean Combs. By 1999, there were Bernini stores around the United States, including five in Las Vegas.
At least one of Bernini's Rodeo Drive shops closed around the 2008/2009 time frame. Yousuf Tar, the owner of Bernini's of Beverly Hills, placed his residence, "Palais des Bel Air," up for sale in 2012.
Bernini's first fragrance was the signature scent Bernini, which was presented in a black bottle. It was followed by Bernini Men in 1994 and Bernini Beverly Hills Eau de Toilette in 1995. Bernini for Women Eau de Parfum, created for the company by Giorgio of Beverly Hills, was launched in 1996. Bernini Sport for men was introduced in 1999, and Bernini Voda was introduced in 2000.
