Perfumers Workshop was established in 1972 by current CEO and President Donald Bauchner, who had already spent 20 years involved in the industry with companies like Revlon, Estee Lauder, and Clairol. Inspired by the hippies’ attraction to essential oils, Bauchner found a way to present the scents in a more chic way, concentrating on fragrance formulation and presentation.
They created such fragrance sensations as Tea Rose, one of the most popular perfumes, and the Samba line. Tea Rose, launched in 1975, is a spicy floral classic. The original Samba fragrance for women was introduced in 1987 and is a opulent floral scent, while the men’s version, introduced three years later, is a flowery herbal with wood and musk undertones. Other perfumes include Mariachi, Rosebud, Tea Rose Amber, Tea Rose Jasmin, Tea Rose Mesk, and Watercolors. Colognes include Mariachi and a variety of scents within the Samba line.
The Samba line offers dozens of scents like Samba Rock & Roll, Samba Star, Samba Kiss, Samba Red, Samba Nova, Samba Ice, and Samba Heat. Many come in version varieties specifically geared for male or female use.
