The Perfect Red Pout
There isn’t much that can top a red lip in terms of sex appeal, but it’s always such a pain to keep up with throughout the night. Long-wear lipstick gets too dry, gloss bleeds everywhere, and lipstick fades away – so what’s a girl to do? Follow these four simple steps and the perfect red pout can be yours!
1) In order to prevent bleeding and fading around the center of lips, apply a lip liner in a shade similar to your lipstick. We like Paula Dorf’s Lip Liner in Sultry. Make sure to fill in the entire lip, not just the perimeter.
2) Using a brush, such as the Eye/Lip Brush from Youngblood, carefully apply a base layer of lipstick. Chanel’s Rouge Coco Hydrating Creme Lip Colour in Gabrielle is a gorgeous classic red.
3) Very gently apply a layer of a translucent powder. This works really well if you lightly place a tissue over your lips and then tap the powder on, creating a sheet of protection.
4) For the final step, apply another coat of Chanel’s Rouge Coco Hydrating Creme Lip Colour in Gabrielle using the Eye/Lip Brush from Youngblood.
By filling the entire lip in with liner, the first layer of lipstick has something to hold onto, the powder seals it in, and you’re left with the perfect red pout that lasts all night!
Shop the Look...for Less!
If you're anything like us, you can't stay away from Pinterest, it's true, it's addicting. But this look caught our eye and stopped us in our tracks, really, and we figured we just had to feature a shop the look for less here... for you. So that's what we'll continue to do...isn't it just lovely? Ready to get this look? Check out the easy steps and how to get it for less!
First, get all of your lovely beauty tools and products ready. This look will call for jet black eye liner, liquid and pencil, a bright blue (or any color you'd like to accent your eyes with) plus a volumizing mascara.
Prime your eye with primer or a foundation for a longer lasting hold on the eye shadow and even out any redness of discoloration on your lids. This look calls for a clean, classic appearance, with a running of black along your upper lash line. Next, apply the blue shadow on your eye lid, then a neutral shimmery shadow on your browbone to highlight. You may blend in a neutral color into the crease for a more dramatic look, but be sure to blend, blend, blend. Apply the blue shadow eye shadow color onto the bottom lash line.
On the inner tear duct, apply that shimmery, neutral shadow you used to highlight your browbone to open your eyes and really make them pop.
Curl your lashes and get the liner ready (our pick is Dior's style liner in noir black) ! Apply on the top lash line and wing out if you wish. Line the bottom lash line with the same liquid liner. Start before the corner of the eye when applying the liner, this way you won't be 'closing up' your eyes. Gently press the liner into the very edge of the eye, build up gradually rather than applying one sweeping line, or you'll end up smudging or creating a messy line.
Now for that pop of color, dab, sweep and press the blue hue eyeshadow in the inner tear duct and line the bottom and top lash lines with this second color.
3 Spring Makeup Trends You Can Start Wearing Now
It's not even winter (officially) just yet, but we are already dreaming of sporting the Spring 2013 beauty trends, le sigh. That's when we stopped and said, there are plenty of these spring trends we can wear now, with ease. So whether you're ready now or 6 months from now, check out our fave spring 2013 beauty looks and how you can get the them for less!
The NUDE LIP, as seen at Alice & Olivia's Spring 2013 presentation, works from day to night, and literally can be worn by anyone! Models at the presentation showed off a glossy, nude lip look paired with mod eyes and hair. To wear it now, simply swipe on a nude lip color...a few select faves or ours are colors like Yves Saint Laurent's golden gloss shimmering lip gloss in simply gold, Bourjois rose sexy plumping lip gloss, and Yves Saint Laurent smoothing lip gloss in #13.
On to the next one, shall we? Blue eyeshadow was all over, everywhere on the runways for Spring 2013, and we want, so badly, for this look to work for you too! Well, you can easily find inspiration in Monique Lhuillier's mermaid inspired collection. The hue is fresh and modern and paired with a nude lip, nude face, and simple hair, the trend can definitely work for the winter, but may we suggest a liner or not such a pigmented hue. A few products we love, that you can get for less to achieve this look? Try Anna Sui's eye color accent shadow in #002, a baby powder blue hue with fine texture and perfectly glides onto skin. Try the color trend on your lashes if you dare, with Anna Sui's eyelash and eyebrow color, ideal for matching your hair, outfit or mood.
The next trend is not a trend at all by us, but an absolute necessary beauty look for all seasons, no matter, winter, summer, fall, or spring. Full lashes are gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous and being all decked out with full lashes, like the models at Zac Posen during his Spring 2013 collection, make us want to incorporate this look on a daily basis. Mascara musts we love are Christian Dior's Diorshow Extase Instant lash plumping mascara, Clarin's Wonder Volume mascara, and lastly, Lancome's hypnose no. 01 noir hypnotic mascara. For even more volume and dramatic effect, add a few false lashes and voilà!
Stick straight hair, as seen as Carlos Miele's spring runway show, showed off a sleek, sophisticated lock look that gave off a mature and elegant hairstyle. Simple yet subtly sexy, straight locks are perfect for that girl who can't spend too much on her hair and is always on the go. Prep your hair with a silky straightening shampoo and conditioner formula, Chi's Royal Treatment real straight products are miracle products, you can check it out and try those out here. Then, you'll need to get yourself a great straightening iron tool, we've got a few high quality ones, in my opinion, Amika or Croc irons work the best!
What do you think of these spring beauty trends? Will you be playing around with them this season?
