Bel Ami (which means "nice friend") is a beautiful men's fragrance by Hermes. It lasts all day. It smells mainly of leather and suede. It is the perfect fragrance for the country gentleman. I can't compare it to any other fragrances because it is so unique. It also has a sweet sandalwood note which is very pleasant. If you like sandalwood and leather, you're going to love Bel Ami by Hermes. I suppose it could be a unisex fragrance because it is neither too sweet nor too masculine. I LOVE IT!

Bel Ami is a wonderful, formal scent that can enliven an office suit as well as a tux, yet not be overwhelming. My partner has worn it as his primary, signature scent, for more than a decade.

As the description notes, it's a complex scent with some spiciness after the initial musky, woodsy tones. It's a sophisticated scent for office or an elegant evening. Perhaps a bit heavy for daytime use in summer, but I rarely wear cologne in those situations anyway.
